About
Psybird Studios is an independent creative home for original horror and science-fiction projects, the work of writer Ray Heffer. It spans screenwriting, scripted audio, voice performance, music and narrative film production, supported by the resources to experiment with those ideas beyond the page.
Ray Heffer
Writer & Creative Director
Ray Heffer is the writer and creative mind behind Psybird Studios. His creative work spans screenwriting, story, music production, audio engineering and film.
His audio engineering and music production experience dates back to the late 1990s. Alongside that creative work, Ray has spent nearly 30 years working in technology. He now writes original stories and builds creative projects to bring his ideas to life.
His screenwriting also led to ScreenBee, the professional screenwriting application he originally began building for his own work.
The Work
The slate includes Apocryphobia, an original horror feature; The Luna State, an original science-fiction world that begins in scripted audio; and Sentinel Hill, a new screen adaptation drawing from H. P. Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror.
Around the writing sit the capabilities to take it further: a professional recording environment for voice and music, and an in-house filmmaking package for camera tests, proofs of concept and short narrative work.
Human Made
Stories are written by people. Performances belong to performers. Music, art and storytelling are forms of human expression. Technology can support the creative process, but authorship, performance and creative decisions remain human.
People make the work.
